"I was looking for a majorette troupe as I was part of a troupe when I was a teen and I enjoyed being part of a team. I then saw the advert for a team leader with Bluebells Majorettes and I jumped at the chance to go and have a look at what they did.

My first night with the troupe I was very nervous but the team leaders and the girls made me feel very welcome within minutes of being there. I was interested in training the band as that was what I did before. There was quite a large band, which was quite nerve-racking but they made me feel very welcome, we had a giggle and it went from there. I feel I have made a lot of strong relationships there, I don’t feel like their team leader, I feel like their friend and part of a large extended family. They are a great bunch of girls, very polite and respect each other and as a large family we do have our little arguments but they are soon forgotten like any family.

I feel I get on well with the other team leaders, we trust each other a lot, I know I can go to them if I have a problem and they will help me as much as they can. I feel I get a lot from bluebells as we go away for weekends and the girls will help the younger ones. We sit up chatting having midnight feasts, laughing so much that my cheeks hurt. The older girls help out with the new girls helping put them at ease and including them in what they are doing.

We have had girls come and go but they stay in touch and pop in every now and then which is lovely to catch up with them. We have had a few that have left but then come back as majorettes again or as team leader’s assistants, which I feel is fantastic as most of them have been part of the team for a very long time. We have a great parent group that will help out as much as they can with events or raising funds and ideas.

Bluebelles is a very large part of my life and I would not have it any other way.
We have a fantastic troupe and I am very proud that myself and my children are part of it and I think I will be for a very long time Well as long as they will have me because I would miss them all terribly and a huge part of my life would be missing.

In the years I have been with Bluebelle, I don’t think I have ever laughed so much. I have fantastic memories that will stay with me forever."
